What I once had
by Nicole Neff

Now I know what I once had
I can remember holding it in the palm of my hand
I let it drop
I heard it's cry as it shattered
Like unrealized dreams
That should have been
Only once it is gone
Do I realize what I once had
Now I am bent over
Sweeping into my palm
All that I once had
