Through the eyes of a child
by Sara Steinberg

This is a lonely place
hollow
dark
cold
so many people, yet so little feeling
numb, like your fingers on a cold winter's day

This is a confusing place
Lies
Screams
Pain
yet they say that they love you
What a strange way to show love

This is a frightening place
hurt
anger
tears
it rides like a rollercoaster
each struggle always leading to disappointment

alone
confused
frightened

This is the world
the world through the eyes of a child
a child longing for just one thing
Love
