Father (by Steve Moorhead)

Oh father where were you?
you were meant to care for us
when we see you we're off
gonna walk away from you (stay away from you)
you can run from us, hide yourself
I tried to look upto you, father.
Looking for the one and only
You were to me, the same
as sight to a blind man,
sound to a deaf man.

Old man, was I meant to step up?
fitting into your boots
that you never showed me how to walk in.
The steps of fatherhood I never saw
I never learnt and never will.
I tried to hold onto my dreams of you,
tried to grab a hold of your hand.
Wishing I could see your soul
and that I could read your mind.
Oh father you seem so happy to see
the tramp whom you now date.
You have sight, use it to see your stars
your blood and flesh need you more than she.
